Manila, Cebu squads miss FIBA 3x3 World Tour Manila Masters semis
Hometown bets Manila Chooks and Cebu Chooks both missed the semis of the Chooks-to-Go FIBA 3x3 World Tour Masters held over the weekend in Ayala Malls Manila Bay.
On Sunday, the two teams bowed out during the quarterfinals of the tournament when Manila fell to Mongolia's Sansar MMC Energy, 21-16, and Cebu lost to Serbia's Liman Huishan NE, 21-11.
Henry Iloka led the Manila squad with 7 points while Chico Lanete added 4 points in the loss. Meanwhile, Zach Huang and Mac Tallo tallied 4 points each for Cebu.
Veteran player Lanete lamented their chances in getting past the quarters. "Sayang 'yung chances namin kanina, sayang," Lanete said. "Pero masaya kami na na-experience namin ito at mahaba pa naman ang season. Madami pa kaming i-improve."
Tallo echoed Lanete's statement for Cebu. "Kulang pa kami sa experience, kulang pa kami sa games. Magandang learning experience sa amin ito. Pinapangako namin na magi-improve pa kami at gagaling pa kami," the top-ranked 3x3 player in the country said.
Liman and Sansar will face each other in the semis while the other bracket will see Ub Huishan go against Melbourne.
