Phoenix Super LPG rode on a strong first half to overthrow Converge, 89-66, and snap its losing skid on Saturday in the 2022 PBA Philippine Cup at the Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City.

Phoenix now improved to 3-7 to put a stop to a five-game dry spell while Converge had its back-to-back wins snapped as it dropped to 4-6.

Converge struggled to put up points on the board in the first half, scoring just nine in the second quarter as Phoenix jumped out to take a 47-20 halftime lead.

Converge, which was coming off two consecutive wins against NorthPort and NLEX, outscored  Phoenix by just two points in the third and never really threatened a comeback in the payoff period as the struggling Phoenix finally got back on track.

Matthew Wright led the Fuel Masters with 15 points, eight rebounds, four assists, and three steals while big man Jason Perkins chipped in 14 markers, six boards, and five dimes.

Phoenix will wrap up the elimination round on Thursday against Ginebra while Converge takes on skidding Blackwater on Wednesday.
