La Salle, Evan Nelle down San Beda, CSB ekes out win against Mapua

Evan Nelle and his De La Salle University squad took down San Beda University, 61-53, to cap Sunday's matches at the Filoil EcoOil Preseason Cup.

Nelle, a former San Beda standout, tallied 10 points against his former team. Mike Phillips tallied monster numbers with 19 rebounds on top of his 14-point effort, while CJ Austria added 13 points in the Green Archers' second win. James Kwekuteye was the only double-digit scorer for San Beda with 10 points.

Meanwhile, De La Salle-College of Saint Benilde eked out a win against Mapua University, 77-76. Robi Nayve, who had 11 points, delivered the game-winner for the Blazers with ten seconds left in the match. Mark Sangco led CSB in scoring with 17 points, while Will Gozum had 12 points to put CSB to 1-1. Bryan Lacap and Jasper Salenga had 20 and 18 points each for Mapua's second loss.

Earlier, National University defeated University of the East, 79-64, for their second win.

Filoil action will return on Wednesday.
