Fil-Am guard Kyle Gamber commits to Ateneo for Season 86

Ateneo de Manila University continued to beef up the Blue Eagles as it introduced its newest recruit on Saturday.

The Katipunan-based squad announced that 6-foot-4 Fil-Am guard Kyle Gamber has committed to Ateneo and will be eligible to play for Season 86.

Head coach Tab Baldwin described Gamber as an "all-purpose guard."

"Kyle himself is very much an all-purpose guard. He's a big guard at 6-foot-4, he's a guy that is very comfortable with the ball in his hand," Baldwin said, describing Gamber also as a player "with great court vision, knows how to pass the ball, [and] an excellent shooter."

"He's the guy that, I think, understands what it means to make his teammates better because as a lead guard, he's gonna have the ball in his hands and he knows how to make the team work," Baldwin added.

Gamber, whose parents have roots in Cagayan de Oro, said he knew Ateneo was the right school for him, with the decision being solidified after talking to Baldwin.

The 17-year old guard said he looks forward to playing in his parents' country.

"I watched a couple of videos about the games and I [saw] how electrifying the crowd was. It's gonna be exciting to play in that environment."

"Being at Ateneo will set me up for my future," he also said.

Gamber said he is also willing to play for the youth team of Gilas Pilipinas.

Ateneo also recently announced the addition of Jared Brown for Season 86.
