Aldin Ayo says 'no formal commitment' yet with PBA's Converge amid reports of coaching job
Aldin Ayo on late Tuesday broke his silence regarding reports that he will be taking over the coaching reins for Converge, saying he has not made any formal commitment yet with the PBA team.
"I'm surprised. Things are happening so fast. I have not made any formal commitment to converge," the champion college coach said in a Facebook post.
"This might just be like the rumored College Schools coaching that did not materialize. I am preoccupied at the moment with the chemotherapy of my mother."
Ayo, who steered Letran and La Salle to titles in NCAA and UAAP, recently stepped down as Chooks-to-Go head trainer to attend to his ailing mother who is suffering from stage four cancer.
Amid the reports linking Ayo to the club, the FiberXers have yet to formally announce the replacement of head coach Jeff Cariaso, who was relieved of his post following a lone conference with Converge.
Still, Ayo said he's flattered that he's being considered to lead Converge while saying it would be a big challenge for him.
"But I am flattered that I'm being considered as the head coach of the converge fiberxers," he added.
"This would be a big challenge and opportunity for any basketball coach, but I would like to seriously talk to my mother about it before deciding."
