Jordan Clarkson says sky's the limit for Kai Sotto

For Jordan Clarkson, sky's the limit for Filipino big man Kai Sotto as he continues his journey towards the NBA.

Clarkson said he sees a bright future for Sotto and he should not give up on that dream.

Sotto put in his hat in the NBA Rookie Draft this year but went undrafted.

"Just stay with it — not to get down, give up, or anything. I think he has a bright future," Clarkson said on Monday in a post-game conference after Gilas Pilipinas' win over Saudi Arabia. "He's young, he's just learning."

"As he grows into the player he is, he's very skilled, [he can] catch the ball, he can space the floor, he can put the ball on the ground and make plays. He's a shooter as well," Clarkson added.

"Sky's the limit for him. He just got to keep putting the work in, keep making strides in his career path," said Clarkson.

Clarkson said he is proud of how Sotto has developed from high school until now and he is on track to something bigger.

"He's taking steps in the right direction. I'm happy for him. I can't wait to see him and continue to grow."

Sotto, meanwhile, said he is happy to play for Gilas in front of a full-packed home court for the first time.

"Siyempre sobrang happy na every time masuot ko 'yung jersey ng Pilipinas, ibang klase 'yung pakiramdam lalo na kapag homecourt. First time ko maglaro sa homecourt ng mga crowd na nanonood kasi last time nas bubble kami so it really means a lot in a player’s standpoint and Filipino standpoint na talagang nakakasaya ng feeling," Sotto said.

The Filipino big man will return to the Adelaide 36ers for the upcoming season of Australia's National Basketball League.
