Stephen Loman vs Bibiano Fernandes booked for ONE Fight Night
Stephen Loman of Baguio City’s Team Lakay is scheduled to figure in his toughest and biggest fight yet when he takes on former ONE bantamweight world champion Bibiano Fernandes at ONE Fight Night 4 on November 19 at the Singapore Indoor Stadium.
Loman, a former Brave Combat Federation bantamweight champion with a professional mixed martial arts record of 16-2, is coming off a unanimous decision win over Japanese veteran Shoko Sato last March.
“I’m so happy for this opportunity. Now the people will get to see the results of all the hard work and training that I’ve done,” Loman said.
“I’m truly excited for this bout. Bibiano is one of the top contenders still in the division so a win here and I could be next in line for the title.”
Fernandes, meanwhile, is 24-5 as a pro and is most remembered by Filipino fight fans for his bitter rivalry with Team Lakay’s ex-ONE bantamweight world champion Kevin Belingon. He last fought in March when he lost his then world title to John Lineker via knockout.
“He could be really motivated coming from that loss against Lineker. It’s either he’s frustrated or motivated. We’ll see,” said Team Lakay’s head coach Mark Sangiao.
“We all know Bibiano hasn’t experienced defeat in a long time. Of course, that loss will certainly serve as a big lesson for him, either way, we’re preparing for him to the best that we can.”
