San Miguel cops back-to-back wins, deals NorthPort second loss in a row
San Miguel is slowly getting its groove in the 2022 PBA Commissioner's Cup, cruising to back-to-back wins after picking up a 104-86 statement win over NorthPort on Wednesday at the Ynares Center in Antipolo City.
Import Devon Scott led the Beermen's triumph over the Batang Pier, churning out a double-double of 25 points and 16 rebounds along with six assists as San Miguel improved to an even 3-3 card.
NorthPort, which was coming off a loss at the hands of Magnolia, dropped to 3-4.
San Miguel was able to lead by as many as 25, 66-41, halfway through the third quarter before NorthPort pulled back to within 17 to end the frame, 78-61. NorthPort matched San Miguel's scoring in the fourth, 25 to 26, but the Beermen had more than enough cushion to cruise to the victory.
CJ Perez provided the lift with 15 points off the bench to go along with six rebounds and three assists while Jericho Cruz and Simon Enciso each chipped in 14 markers with Robert Herndon chiming in with 11.
Prince Ibeh led NorthPort with 16 points, 16 rebounds, three blocks and two assists while the debuting Will Navarro registered 14 markers in his first PBA game.
