Melecio drops career-high 24 as Converge beats NLEX for fifth straight win
Aljun Melecio waxed hot from beyond the arc to lift the Converge FiberXers past the NLEX Road Warriors, 108-84, in the 2022 PBA Commissioner's Cup on Saturday at the Ynares Arena in Antipolo.
Melecio connected for 5-of-7 on triples and tallied a career-high 24 points in Converge's fifth straight win.
The FiberXers had a hot start and scored 34 points against NLEX's output of just 17, which eventually gave Converge enough headway to take the win and improve to 6-2.
Converge also survived the disqualification of their reinforcement Quincy Miller who was ejected in the second period. Prior to ejection, the Converge import had 15 points and nine rebounds. Jeron Teng and Justin Arana also tallied double digits with 14 and 12 points each.
Brandon Ganuelas-Rosser had 24 points in the NLEX loss, while import Earl Clark and Phillip Paniamogan had 15 points each. Kevin Alas added 14 points in the loss which brought down NLEX to 3-4.
Converge will face Phoenix on Wednesday while NLEX will go against Rain or Shine on the same day.
