Gilas Pilipinas rises in FIBA rankings following fifth window sweep

Gilas Pilipinas rose one spot in the latest FIBA World Rankings following a sweep of the fifth window of the 2023 FIBA World Cup Asian Qualifiers last week. 

The nationals are now in 40th place after defeating both Jordan and Saudi Arabia to go 5-3 in Group E. The Filipinos pulled off a 74-66 win over Jordan before they picked up a 76-63 victory of Saudi Arabia as both games were played in away format.

Meanwhile, powerhouse Spain overtook USA in the number spot as the Americans fell to second spot followed by Australia, Argentina, and France in the third, fourth, and fifth places, respectively.

Gilas still has two assignments left in the qualifiers as they will face Jordan and Lebanon in February 2023 for the sixth window.
