Strong Group games in Dubai to air on GMA's on-air and online channels


The games of Strong Group, the Philippine representative to the 32nd Dubai International Basketball Championship, will air on GMA Network's on-air and online channels.

A deal was signed on Thursday between GMA Network, through GMA Synergy, and the UAE Basketball Association.

In the said agreement, the games of the Philippine delegation led by Strong Group head coach Charles Tiu, will be aired exclusively via delayed telecast on GMA Network on Sunday mornings and on GTV on Saturday nights, starting January 28. Select territories will also be able to watch the game via GMA International.

Aside from the TV airing, games can also be accessed through GMA Sports' YouTube channel.

Fans will also be treated to exclusive interviews from Anton Roxas in Dubai, and commentary and analysis of the games from Martin Javier and Martin Antonio.

Present in the signing were GMA Network Senior Vice President for Programming, Talent Management, Worldwide, and Support Group, and President of GMA Films, Atty. Annette Gozon-Valdes and First Vice President and Head of Regional TV and Synergy and Acting Head of GMA Integrated News Mr. Oliver Victor B. Amoroso.

UAE Basketball Association was represented by Mr. Naji Al Jabri, member of the UAE Basketball Association Organizing Committee, while Tiu witnessed the signing ceremonies.

"We would like to invite everyone to watch the games that will be aired on GMA and GTV and in select territories of GMA International. It will start on Saturday, January 28, and it will be aired on Saturdays and Sundays and I hope that all Filipinos will support Team Philippines - Strong Group," said Gozon-Valdes.

"We would like to thank Mr. Naji Al Jabri and the UAE Basketball Association for partnering with GMA Network and we hope that this partnership shall remain sturdy and lasting," said Amoroso.

Under Tiu's tutelage, Strong Group is composed of NCAA MVP and De La Salle-College of Saint Benilde big man Will Gozum and teammate Migs Oczon, former NBA players Nick Young, Renaldo Balkman, and Shabazz Muhammad, Gilas Pilipinas players Justine Baltazar, Lebron Lopez, and Kevin Quiambao, and UAAP players Jerom Lastimosa, BJ Andrade, JD Cagulangan, and Inand Fornillos.

The Strong Group will play their first game on Friday night against the UAE national team.
