Ethan Kaw explodes for 29 points, St. Jude snaps Xavier streak to inch closer to PCYAA Invitational crown


St. Jude Catholic School is now a win away from the Philippine Ching Yuen Athletic Association (PCYAA) 10th Anniversary Invitational basketball tournament after defeating Xavier School, 84-62, in Game 1 of the Finals last Thursday at the Uno High School Gym.

St. Jude had a 23-0 run in the second period to flip the game from a 22-15 deficit to a 38-22 lead in the Green Knights' favor. The Green Knights led by 33, 84-51, late in the game before eventually taking its 11th straight win in the tournament.

Ethan Kaw exploded for 29 points, six rebounds, and three assists to lead the Green Knights past the Stallions, while Kobe Chong added 20 points on top of his 10 boards, five assists, three steals, and two blocks.

Andre Tan had 13 points, while Brent Tiu was held to 11 points as Xavier had a 25% shooting clip.

Game 2 of the Finals will be held on Tuesday at the same venue.
