Ginebra whips Phoenix by 20 for third win in a row


Barangay Ginebra made easy work of erstwhile streaking Phoenix Super LPG, 109-89, to cruise to its third straight victory in the 2023 PBA Governors' Cup on Friday.

Ginebra has improved to 7-2, forging a two-way tie at second spot with San Miguel while Phoenix halted its three-game winning streak to drop to 4-6.

Christian Standhardinger dropped a huge double-double of 28 points, 12 rebounds, eight assists, and one steal while Justin Brownlee chipped in 18 markers, 11 boards, six dimes, and two blocks.

Four other Gin Kings reached double digit scoring with Scottie Thompson churning out 16 markers as Jamie Malonzo and Von Pessumal each chipped in 14 points.

Ginebra previously won over Meralco and Blackwater as the defending champions tightened their grip on a top four pace ahead of the playoff rounds.

Du'vaughn Maxwell led the Fuel Masters with 22 points, seven rebounds, and three assists while Sean Manganti chimed in with 15 markers and six boards.

Phoenix are coming off three straight victories against Rain or Shine, Converge, and Terrafirma.
