La Salle downs Adamson to remain undefeated; Ateneo snaps four-game skid at expense of UP

De La Salle University remained undefeated in six games after its takedown of Adamson University, 22-25, 25-14, 25-16, 25-19, on Sunday in the UAAP Season 85 women's volleyball tournament at the Filoil EcoOil Centre in San Juan.

Angel Canino had 21 points and 17 excellent receptions while Thea Gagate had 16 points in the four-set win of the Lady Spikers. Trisha Tubu led Adamson with 13 points while Kate Santiago had 12 points with the Lady Falcons going down to 4-2.

On the other hand, Ateneo de Manila University snapped a four-game skid at the expense of University of the Philippines, 25-16, 25-20, 25-22.

Vanie Gandler had 17 points for the Blue Eagles while Faith Nisperos added 14 points in the win which improved Ateneo's standings to 2-5. Jewel Encarnacion had 11 points for UP to go down to 1-5.

In the men's division, La Salle swept Adamson, 25-21, 25-18, 25-20, while Ateneo won over UP in straight sets, 25-18, 25-21, 25-19.

UAAP action will return on Wednesday with Adamson taking on UP and La Salle facing NU to cap the first round of elimination.
