La Salle sweeps FEU to maintain perfect slate, UST bounces back with straight sets win over UP

De La Salle University maintained its perfect slate after a sweep of Far Eastern University, 25-16, 25-18, 25-21, in the UAAP Season 85 women's volleyball tournament on Saturday at the Philsports Arena in Pasig.

Thea Gagate and Angel Canino made 13 points each for the Lady Spikers, while Leila Cruz and Jolina dela Cruz had 10 points apiece in the Taft-based squad's fifth straight victory since the season started. FEU, on the other hand, went down to 2-3.

Meanwhile, University of Santo Tomas returned to the win column after a straight sets victory against University of the Philippines, 25-17, 25-23, 25-20.

Eya Laure had 14 points for the Tigresses while Imee Hernandez and Milenna Alessandrini had 11 and 10 points, respectively for the España-based squad's third win in five games. UP went down to 1-4.

In men's play, FEU defeated La Salle, 25-21, 25-16, 21-25, 25-21, while UST kept UP winless via a sweep, 25-22, 25-18, 25- 17.

UAAP action will return on Sunday as the defending champs National University take on University of the East, while Adamson University will face Ateneo de Manila in the afternoon.
