Barangay Ginebra takes down TNT to lead Govs Cup Finals


Barangay Ginebra San Miguel bounced back and took the series lead, 2-1, after taking down TNT Tropang Giga, 117-103, on Friday in Game 3 of the PBA Governors' Cup Finals at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.

After being tied at 88 early in the fourth period, Ginebra started to pull away and led by as much as 16, 113-97, with less than three minutes left in the clock. It was enough to give Ginebra enough breathing room heading into the final minutes of the game and eventually take the win.

Justin Brownlee produced his usual numbers with 29 points, eight rebounds, and five assists, while Jamie Malonzo had 27 points and 10 rebounds. Christian Standhardinger also registered a double-double of 16 points and 10 boards, while Stanley Pringle had 22 points.

The win spoiled TNT import Rondae Hollis-Jefferson's 32-point, 10-rebound performance. Mikey Williams added 19 points while Jayson Castro had 14 points.

Game 4 of the best-of-seven finals will be played on Sunday at the same venue.
