Ateneo coach Tab Baldwin on Letran's Kurt Reyson: ‘Hell of a player’

Tab Baldwin heaped some praise on the Letran Knights' Kurt Reyson, whose 25-point explosion almost led Colegio de San Juan de Letran to a win against Baldwin's Ateneo de Manila University in the SBP Invitational Games on Wednesday.

The Blue Eagles had to play catch-up almost all game long but a 7-1 closing run allowed the Katipunan crew to steal the game from the Knights in the endgame, 90-85.

Still, Baldwin was impressed by Reyson's performance in the game, even if it was his own team that came away with the win.

“Reyson's a hell of a player and he had a really good game and we knew that they would go to him,” Baldwin said.

“So just a couple of little schemes at the end to try to make sure that he didn't have opportunities to beat us. The boys executed pretty well.”

The Blue Eagles spoiled Reyson’s hot shooting night with Mason Amos posting 16 points, four rebounds, and one assist and Jared Brown chipping in with 15 markers.

“Offensively, we just tried to find good shots for our good shooters and I think JB hit a corner three,” Baldwin added.

“So better execution at the end than the beginning so I was happy with the team's progress during the game.”
