Ginebra escapes Terrafirma, extends streak to three in PBA On Tour

Barangay Ginebra San Miguel stretched its winning streak to three after holding off Terrafirma, 114-106, on Friday in the PBA On Tour at the Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig City.

Ginebra had to mount a comeback after Ed Daquioag's triple gave the Dyip a 101-93 cushion nearly halfway through the fourth period. But Nard Pinto, Jeremiah Gray, Jayson David, and Aljon Mariano combined for a 9-0 run for Ginebra, which took the lead back at 102-101.

Daquioag and Isaac Go countered with five unanswered points for a 106-102 Terrafirma lead.

Von Pessumal then fired a three-pointer of his own before Gray gave Ginebra the lead back, 107-106, with 2:05 left.

Mariano then knocked down back-to-back baskets to lead the finishing kick.

Mariano starred with a double-double outing of 25 points and 11 rebounds with four assists, three steals, and one block while Pessumal and Gray chipped in 17 and 16 markers.

Ginebra improved to 4-3 while Terrafirma dropped to 3-5.

Earlier, Rain or Shine bounced back after taking down Converge, 127-110, behind solid performances from Anton Asistio and Shaun Ildefonso.

Asistio shone from the bench with 20 points, two rebounds, and two assists while Ildefonso churned out 19 markers, three boards, and one dime as the Elasto Painters improved to 5-1.

The FiberXers, on the other hand, slid to 3-4.
