San Miguel, Wilcon Depot impress in PBA 3x3 Leg 2 opener

San Miguel and Wilcon Depot made their marks right away in the opening day of Leg 2 of the PBA 3x3 Season 3 First Conference on Monday at the Ayala Malls Circuit in Makati.

The Beermen, led by veteran Ken Bono, pulled off a 21-9 win against NorthPort before escaping Pioneer ElastoSeal with a 21-18 victory. Their only loss, however, came at the hands of newcomer Wilcon, which defeated them with a 17-14 triumph.

Wilcon also routed the Batang Pier, 21-15. Both Wilcon and San Miguel wrapped up the opening day with similar 2-1 cards in Pool B as they advanced to the quarterfinals.

In Pool A, Meralco, Barangay Ginebra, and TNT all had 1-1 cards but only the Bolts and the Gin Kings will move on to the next round due to superior points.

Cavitex topped Pool C with a 2-1 slate, beating Terrafirma 3x3 and Blackwater Smooth Razor while falling prey to Purefoods.

The rest of the elimination round will continue on Tuesday followed by the playoff round.
