TNT gets breakthrough win at expense of slumping Phoenix in PBA On Tour
TNT finally secured its breakthrough win in the 2023 PBA On Tour after adding to Phoenix Super LPG's woes with a 96-88 victory on Wednesday at the PhilSports Arena in Pasig City.
The Tropang Giga halted their seven-game slide to improve to 1-7 while the Fuel Masters absorbed their fourth straight loss to drop to 3-7.
Glenn Khobuntin starred for TNT with 21 points alongside seven rebounds, two assists, and a steal while Almond Vosotros, the team's main gunner in its 3x3 squad, chipped in 16 markers.
Carl Bryan Cruz chimed in with 15 points while another TNT 3x3 mainstay Lervin Flores flirted with a double-double of nine points and 13 boards.
TNT will look to go for back-to-back wins when it faces Barangay Ginebra on Friday while Phoenix will close out its campaign against undefeated Magnolia on Sunday.
Earlier, Rain or Shine averted a collapse to escape NorthPort, 118-112, to cruise to its back-to-back wins. The Elasto Painters improved to 7-2 to remain at the solo second spot while the Batang Pier slipped to 5-5.
Santi Santillan paced Rain or Shine, who led by as much as 20 points only to be trimmed to single digit early in the fourth, as he finished with 20 points, six rebounds, three assists, and one block. Anton Asistio and Andrei Caracut each poured in 17 markers.
The Elasto Painters will look to build on this momentum when they take on Blackwater on Sunday while NorthPort takes on Converge on Friday, July 28.
