Pingris, other past Gilas stars trooped to Big Dome to support team vs Angola
The past came out to support the present.
Former Gilas Pilipinas stars trooped to the Smart Araneta Coliseum to cheer on the current national team in its game against Angola in the 2023 FIBA World Cup on Sunday night.
Marc Pingris, who was the defensive linchpin of the 2014 World Cup squad, was among more than 12,000 fans who watched the Gilas take on Angolans in Group A action. Unfortunately, though, the Filipinos could not deliver the win as Gilas absorbed an 80-70 defeat for its second loss in as many games in the global cagefest.
Aside from Pingris, also spotted at the Big Dome were former national team captain and Rain or Shine star Gabe Norwood, two-time Asia's Best Point Guard Jayson Castro, and gunners Gary David and Larry Fonacier.
James Yap, who suited up for the Philippines in the past including the 2018 Asian Games, was also present on the sidelines.
