Bolick drops 40 points as NLEX beats Rain or Shine to keep playoff bid alive


Robert Bolick dropped 40 points as NLEX defeated Rain or Shine, 122-110, Saturday at the Ynares Center to keep its playoff bid alive in the PBA Commissioner's Cup.

Bolick made 14 out of 25 attempts from the field, and nine out of ten from the free throw line en route to his explosive outing which improved the Road Warriors' record to 5-6.

The Road Warriors were leading 97-85 with less than eight minutes remaining in the fourth period before Jhonard Clarito and Adrian Nocum put the Elasto Painters within seven. However, Xyrus Torres' five-point spurt, a basket and a triple, handed NLEX the double-digit lead anew before they held off Rain or Shine until the final buzzer.

Aside from his 40-point eruption, Bolick had 10 assists, six rebounds, and two steals. NLEX import Mike Watkins, meanwhile, had 25 points.

Import Deon Thompson led Rain or Shine with 26 points and 11 rebounds, along with five assists, a steal, and a block, while Jhonard Clarito had 20 points. Keith Datu also had a double-double performance of ten points and ten boards.

Rain or Shine slipped to 6-5 as their playoffs entry has yet to be formalized.
