San Miguel bounces back, dominates Phoenix
San Miguel returned to the win column after dominating Phoenix, 111-92, on Sunday in the PBA Philippine Cup at the Ninoy Aquino Stadium in Manila.
After a tight first quarter which ended at 30-29 in San Miguel's favor, the Beermen pulled away in the second quarter as they outscored Phoenix, 34-21, to claim a 64-50 lead.
The Beermen cruised then and took control of the game before getting their biggest lead, 89-65, early in the fourth period after Don Trollano sank his freebies. San Miguel then continued to hold off Phoenix until the final buzzer as they bounced back after falling to TNT last May 4.
CJ Perez led San Miguel with 26 points, while Trollano had 21 points. June Mar Fajardo registered a double-double performance of 20 points and 12 rebounds, while Marcio Lassiter had 11 points as San Miguel improved to 4-2.
Kai Ballungay, meanwhile, had 23 points to lead the Fuel Masters, while Ken Tuffin and Jason Perkins had 16 and 15 points, respectively.
