2025 FIBA Asia Cup: Gilas Pilipinas vs Chinese Taipei – Photo Gallery

Gilas Pilipinas fell to Chinese Taipei, 95-87, in its opening game in the 2025 FIBA Asia Cup on Wednesday in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.

The Philippines had a slow start as they were outscored by Chinese Taipei, 27-16, in the opening frame before mounting a second quarter comeback behind Justin Brownlee to close the first half at 43-34. Chinese Taipei, however, held off Gilas despite its late game rally led by Kevin Quiambao as Brownlee was fouled out in the final period.

Brownlee had 19 points, seven rebounds, and two assists, while Quiambao had 17 points.

Ying-Chun Chen led Chinese Taipei with 34 points built on six triples.
