Jericho Cruz posts 21 as Guam beats Syria in 2025 FIBA Asia Cup
Jericho Cruz posted 21 points as Guam defeated Syria, 82-73, to notch its first win in the 2025 FIBA Asia Cup early Saturday (Philippine time) in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.
Cruz also had one rebound, one assist, and one steal in the said match.
The win came after Guam lost to Iran, 77-52, last Wednesday. Against Iran, Cruz had 11 points, four rebounds, two assists, and one steal.
Guam currently sits third in Group B with a 1-1 record. Iran holds a 2-0 record, while Japan also stands at 1-1. Syria is winless at 0-2.
Guam will face Japan next on Sunday.
Only the top team at the end of the group stage will directly advance to the quarterfinals. If Guam finishes in second or third place, it will move to the playoff for a quarterfinals spot.
