Which Gilas Pilipinas players stood out in the 2025 FIBA Asia Cup?

Gilas Pilipinas may have wrapped up its campaign in the 2025 FIBA Asia Cup, but that doesn't mean Filipino players failed to make an impact in the tournament.

Here are the Gilas Pilipinas stats leaders in the FIBA Asia Cup:

• Justin Brownlee (20.6 ppg, 5.2 rpg, 3.8 apg)

Brownlee led the Philippines in scoring with 20.6 points per game. His highest output came against New Zealand, where he exploded for 37 points — which is still the highest individual scoring performance in the ongoing Asia Cup. He was also Gilas’ most efficient player, averaging 21.2 in efficiency per game.

In the tournament, Brownlee ranks fourth overall in scoring averages, behind Saudi Arabia’s Muhammad-Ali Abdur-Rahkman, Brandon Goodwin of Qatar, and Keron Deshields of Syria.

• AJ Edu (8.4 PPG, 9.0 RPG, 1.6 APG, 1.6 BPG)

Edu proved to be a force in defense, averaging nine rebounds and 1.6 blocks per game. His best rebounding performances came against Chinese Taipei and Saudi Arabia, where he grabbed 12 boards in each game. He also had a standout showing against KSA with 17 points and four assists.

Edu currently ranks fourth overall in rebounding and fifth in blocks per game.

• Scottie Thompson (5.4 PPG, 6.0 RPG, 4.4 APG)

While his scoring was limited after a 16-point outing against Chinese Taipei, Thompson showcased his all-around game with 4.4 assists per contest — including his tournament-high seven assists against Iraq.

He ranked 12th overall in assists and 22nd in rebounding.

• Dwight Ramos (16.8 PPG, 6.0 RPG, 2.8 APG, 1.2 SPG)

Ramos consistently stuffed the stat sheet for Gilas, with most complete performance against Iraq, where he tallied 21 points, six rebounds, two assists, and two steals.

• Kevin Quiambao (12.0 PPG, 2.2 RPG, 1.6 APG)

Though his performance fluctuated throughout the tournament, Quiambao proved to be a reliable contributor. His best game came in the quarterfinals against Australia, where he scored 17 points and grabbed four rebounds to lead Gilas.
