NorthPort franchise sale remains under evaluation, says PBA

The proposed sale of the NorthPort franchise remains under review with PBA officials still evaluating the details before reaching a final decision.

According to the PBA, Pureblends representatives have already submitted their letter of intent and other requirements in their bid to acquire the Batang Pier franchise and formally enter the league.

A review committee will then submit a recommendation to the Board of Governors before the 50th Season fires off on October 5.

Despite its fate still uncertain, the Batang Pier will still participate in the annual Rookie Draft set this Sunday where the club can bolster the current roster led by Calvin Abueva, Cade Flores, Evan Nelle, Fran Yu, and Sidney Onwubere.

Last season, the deepest run NorthPort made was a semifinals appearance in Season 49 Commissioner's Cup. They ended the elimination round as the top seed before ousting Magnolia in the quarterfinals.

However, they bowed out of contention after suffering a 1-4 loss to Barangay Ginebra in the best-of-seven semis affair.

In both the Governors' Cup and Philippine Cup, NorthPort failed to reach the playoffs.
