Yukien Andrada returns to San Beda with confidence boost after PBA Draft

PBA Draft 2025: Yukien Andrada selected by Magnolia

Yukien Andrada will play out his final year with San Beda University with renewed confidence, especially after being selected in the first round of the PBA Rookie Draft by Magnolia on Sunday.

Andrada was picked sixth overall by the powerhouse franchise, marking the first selection made by new head coach LA Tenorio.

“I was actually thankful. Thankful ako kay Coach LA na na-pick ako sixth pick ng first round,” Andrada said on Sunday.

“I think what got Coach LA to draft me was my pre-draft workout with them.”

According to Tenorio, Andrada, along with Joshua Yerro, was among the players they believed would be a good fit for the Hotshots.

“‘Yun ‘yung mga players na talagang tinignan ko before the draft. Sila ‘yung feel namin na possible talagang mapunta at makatulong sa amin,” said Tenorio.

Andrada also had a good feeling after his workout with Magnolia, especially given his strong performance and the presence of fellow Bedans on the team.

“I think I’ll be fine with Magnolia because I also have Peter Alfaro on the team, and also Rome dela Rosa, who is also a Bedan,” he said.

With NCAA Season 101 still ahead, Andrada said that being drafted has boosted his confidence, especially as he aims to lead the Red Lions to another championship.

“I still want to win a championship with San Beda. That’s the sole reason why I came back to San Beda. And this draft is also a big opportunity for me, so I grabbed it. Getting drafted today really boosted my confidence heading into the season.”

NCAA Season 101 is scheduled to open on October 1.
