Ray Allen Torres delivers game-winner for Adamson as UP drops to 0-2
Ray Allen Torres drilled the game-winning triple to lift Adamson University past the University of the Philippines, 62-59, on Wednesday in the UAAP Season 88 men’s basketball tournament at the UST Quadricentennial Pavilion.
Tied at 59 after a Harold Alarcon layup with under 20 seconds remaining, Torres knocked down the decisive shot from beyond the arc with just three seconds left to secure the win.
UP briefly held the lead at 19-17 in the second period, but Adamson responded and claimed its biggest advantage at 49-39 early in the final frame.
Torres led the Soaring Falcons with 10 points, while AJ Fransman also contributed 10 points along with eight rebounds and one assist.
Gerry Abadiano paced the Fighting Maroons with 15 points. Alarcon and Gani Stevens added 12 and 10 points, respectively.
Adamson improved to 1-1, while defending champion UP slipped to 0-2.
