The team explained that changes in the lineup were necessary as “the club continues to face challenges,” which led to the decision to end Malonzo’s stint.
“Jamie Malonzo is a wonderful person who has worked hard every day to adjust to his new environment. While this is a difficult decision, we appreciate your understanding,” read the translated statement from the team.
Kyoto also noted that it is currently in contract negotiations with a new naturalized or Asian player and will provide updates once the deal is finalized.
Malonzo signed with Kyoto Hannaryz in July.
