UAAP: Adamson halts UST's three-game winning streak
Adamson University defeated the University of Santo Tomas, 69-59, to halt the Growling Tigers' three-game winning streak on Saturday in the UAAP Season 88 men's basketball tournament at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.
The Soaring Falcons outscored the Growling Tigers, 22-9, in the second quarter to take a 43-36 lead at halftime.
That cushion proved enough to hold off the España-based squad, despite UST pulling to within 60-54 with 6:01 left in the final frame.
AJ Fransman led Adamson with 18 points, while Cedrick Manzano added 12 points and eight rebounds.
The win spoiled Nic Cabañero’s 23-point outing, while Collins Akowe was limited to 10 points, despite grabbing 16 rebounds.
With the victory, Adamson improved to 3-4, while UST fell to 5-2 at the end of their first round runs.
