UAAP: La Salle downs UE, extends winning streak to four

De La Salle University took down University of the East, 84-72, on Wednesday in the UAAP Season 88 men’s basketball tournament at the Mall of Asia Arena.

The Green Archers led by as much as 20, 75-55, in the fourth period before the Red Warriors inched closer, 77-70, with 2:39 remaining.

However, the Taft-based squad eventually held off UE as Jacob Cortez ignited a 7-2 run en route to the victory. 

Luis Pablo finished with 16 points and seven rebounds to lead La Salle, while Mike Phillips had 14 points and 12 rebounds as the Green Archers improved to 6-3, tied with the University of the Philippines at No. 2.

John Abate and Precious Momowei, meanwhile, had 20 points apiece, with the latter having 10 rebounds as UE remained winless in nine games.
