La Salle's Mike Phillips looks forward to playing with Ateneo's Kymani Ladi in Gilas Pilipinas

De La Salle University’s Mike Phillips is set for another tour of duty with Gilas Pilipinas, as he was included in Norman Black’s lineup for the 2025 Southeast Asian Games in December.

Phillips previously suited up for Gilas in the 2023 edition of the biennial meet in Cambodia, where the Philippines reclaimed the gold medal after settling for silver in 2022 in Hanoi.

According to Phillips, when the list of possible players came out, one name immediately caught his attention: Ateneo de Manila University’s Kymani Ladi.

“I saw Ladi’s name, and I'm just excited because, you know, when we compete, there are so many competitive juices,” Phillips said Wednesday after the Green Archers’ win against the University of the East.

“Now, when we’re put on one team and channel that for the country, I’m just really excited to see how that’s going to work out.”

Phillips is also looking forward to reuniting with Justin Brownlee.

“Of course, my guy, my idol, Justin Brownlee. I'm always happy just to be with him—just how he carries himself in practice. I’m always taking notes from him,” he said, adding that he’s also eager to play alongside everyone included in the lineup.

Aside from Phillips, Brownlee, and Ladi, Black’s roster also features Ray Parks, Matthew Wright, Jason Brickman, Remy Martin, Veejay Pre, Thirdy Ravena, Dave Ildefonso, Ange Kouame, and Brandon Ganuelas-Rosser.
