PBA: Perkins drops 33 to lead Phoenix past Blackwater; Titan Ultra edges Terrafirma
Jason Perkins dropped a conference-high 33 points to lead Phoenix past Blackwater, 106–98, on Saturday in the PBA Philippine Cup at the Ynares Center in Antipolo City.
Phoenix led 103-94 with 1:03 remaining in the fourth period before a Sedrick Barefield jumper cut Blackwater's deficit to five.
Free throws from Tyler Tio and Ricci Rivero then sealed the victory for Phoenix, which improved to 3–6 and kept its playoff hopes alive.
Aside from Perkins, Rivero tallied 25 points along with nine boards, three assists, a steal, and a block, while Ken Tuffin posted a double-double of 13 points and 10 rebounds, plus an assist, a steal, and a block.
Barefield paced Blackwater with 25 points, while Christian David added 18 points and 10 rebounds. Abu Tratter and Dalph Panopio chipped in 17 and 12 points, respectively, as the Bossing absorbed their seventh straight loss and slipped to 1–7.
Earlier, Titan Ultra returned to the win column after squeaking past Terrafirma, 111–108.
Calvin Abueva registered a double-double of 20 points and 15 rebounds, along with seven assists, four steals, and three blocks, while Fran Yu compiled his own double-double of 15 points and 11 assists with two rebounds. Joshua Munzon added 21 points.
Jerrick Ahanmisi scored 20 points, Mark Nonoy added 18, and Louie Sangalang and JM Bravo contributed 16 points each. Aljon Mariano also had a double-double with 15 points and 10 rebounds.
Titan improved to 3–6, while the Dyip suffered their sixth straight loss and fell to 1–7.
