PBA: Jimmy Mariano, former player and champion coach, passes away

Former Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) player and champion coach Jimmy Mariano has passed away at the age of 84.

The PBA announced his passing on Sunday.

“Our prayers and condolences to the family and loved ones of former PBA player and Presto champion coach Mr. Jimmy Mariano,” the league said.

As a coach, Mariano steered Presto to the All-Filipino crown in 1990.

He also played for the Philippine team in the 1968 Mexico Olympics and the 1972 Munich Olympics, where he served as the country’s flag bearer.
