Kouame, Sedurifa star as Gilas 3x3 escapes Malaysia to advance to SEA Games semis
Ange Kouame top-scored while Joseph Sedurifa nailed the dagger as Gilas Pilipinas 3x3 escaped Malaysia, 21-19, in the men’s 3x3 basketball competition of the 2025 Southeast Asian Games at the Nimibutr Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand.
Kouame proved lethal with his eight points while Joseph Eriobu and Janrey Pasaol chipped in five markers each as the Filipinos improved to 2-0 following a 21-15 win against Vietnam earlier today.
But it was Sedurifa's game-winning basket that bailed Gilas Pilipinas, sinking the two-pointer with 1:19 left in the game as they advanced to the semifinals set on Thursday afternoon.
Sedurifa finished with three points, helping the Philippines remain unbeaten in Group B ahead of their final group stage clash against Laos early Thursday.
Gilas Pilipinas is hoping to redeem itself following a silver medal finish two years ago in Cambodia, where the Filipinos bowed to the hosts in the finals with a 20-15 loss.
