2025 SEA Games: Gilas Women 3x3 bow out of contention with losses to Indonesia, Malaysia

2025 SEA Games: Gilas Women 3x3 bow out of contention with losses to Indonesia, Malaysia

The Gilas Pilipinas Women 3x3 team could not barge into the win column on the opening day of 2025 Southeast Asian Games on Wednesday at the Nimibutr Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand.

The Filipinas, who snagged the silver medal last edition in Cambodia, first fell to reigning bronze medalist Indonesia with a 15-21 loss earlier today before absorbing a narrow 19-21 defeat at the hands of Malaysia later in the day.

With a 0-2 run so far, the Philippine bets have bowed out of medal contention as only the top two finishers in each group will advance to the semifinals.

The Philippine team is made up of Tantoy Ferrer, Jhaz Joson, Kaye Pingol, and Mikka Cacho.

Indonesia (2-0) and Malaysia (1-1) will advance to the semifinals where they will face Group B top squads in host Thailand and reigning gold medalist Vietnam.

The Thais have dominated the group stage, first escaping the Vietnamese squad with a 17-16 nail-biter before stunning Singapore and Lao with 19-12 and 22-2 victories, respectively.
