PBA: Barangay Ginebra, Meralco remain in hunt for playoff bonus with wins vs Terrafirma, Phoenix

Barangay Ginebra and Meralco kept their playoff-bonus bids alive as they notched victories in the PBA Philippine Cup at the Ninoy Aquino Stadium on Friday.

Barangay Ginebra dismantled Terrafirma, 108–77, to improve to 5–4.

The Gin Kings started strong, outscoring the Dyip 25–13 in the first quarter before taking a 52–35 lead at halftime. Ginebra continued to pour it on in the second half, building an 86–52 advantage early in the fourth period before cruising to the win.

Jayson David led Ginebra with 16 points, while Norbert Torres and Troy Rosario added 13 each. Japeth Aguilar and Sonny Estil chipped in 12 points apiece.

Paolo Hernandez paced Terrafirma with 15 points, while Mark Nonoy scored 11 and JM Bravo tallied a double-double of 10 points and 10 rebounds as the Dyip fell to 1–9.

Later that night, Meralco eliminated Phoenix from contention with an 88–78 victory.

CJ Cansino starred for the Bolts with 22 points, while Chris Newsome added 17 as Meralco also improved to 5–4.

Jason Perkins and Ricci Rivero finished with 13 points each, while Ken Tuffin added 12 as Phoenix dropped to 3–7.
