UAAP: Janrey Pasaol named as Season 88 MVP

Far Eastern University’s Janrey Pasaol was named the Most Valuable Player of UAAP Season 88 on Sunday.

Pasaol averaged 15.43 points, 4.14 rebounds, 7.5 assists, and 2.14 steals per game at the end of the elimination round, helping the Tamaraws finish with a 7–7 record.

With these statistics, he posted 81.5 statistical points, besting De La Salle University’s Mike Phillips (80.429) and the University of Santo Tomas’ Collins Akowe (79.286) to claim the league’s top individual award.

Joining Pasaol in the Elite Team are Phillips, Akowe, Jake Figueroa of National University, and Nic Cabañero of the University of Santo Tomas.

Pasaol became the first Tamaraw to win the MVP award since Terrence Romeo in 2013.

Akowe was also named Rookie of the Year.

On the women’s side which was awarded last Wednesady, National University’s Karl Pingol was named MVP. Joining her in the Elite Team are Kacey dela Rosa of Ateneo de Manila University, Kent Pastrana of the University of Santo Tomas, and NU’s Kristine Cayabyab (73.571) and Angel Surada (71.714).

Ateneo’s Erica de Luna was named Rookie of the Year.
