PBA Philippine Cup quarterfinals recap and semifinals bracket

The cast for the PBA Philippine Cup semifinals is now complete following the conclusion of the quarterfinals last Monday.

Here’s a recap of the quarterfinal matchups:

San Miguel vs. NLEX

The twice-to-beat San Miguel Beermen secured the first semifinal berth after defeating NLEX, 101–94, last Christmas Day.

Rain or Shine vs. Meralco

Meralco advanced to the semifinals by erasing Rain or Shine's twice-to-beat advantage. The Bolts won Game 1, 96–79, then sealed the series with a 98–89 victory in the do-or-die match.

TNT vs. Magnolia

TNT outlasted a gritty Magnolia side, pulling away late for a 118–109 win to book a spot in the semifinals.

Converge vs. Barangay Ginebra

RJ Abarrientos exploded for a career-high 35 points as Barangay Ginebra forced a knockout game with a dominant 105–85 Game 1 win over Converge.

The FiberXers came close to clinching a semifinal berth in the deciding game, but a Stephen Holt buzzer-beater in overtime sealed Ginebra’s entry into the semifinals.

With the semifinalists set, San Miguel will face Barangay Ginebra in a best-of-seven series, while TNT will take on Meralco in the other semifinal matchup.
