PBA: Trollano erupts for 33, lifts San Miguel to 2-1 semis lead vs Barangay Ginebra
San Miguel seized a 2-1 lead in the PBA Philippine Cup semifinals after besting Barangay Ginebra, 91-85, on Friday at the Smart Araneta Coliseum, behind Don Trollano's 33 points.
The Beermen led 47-41 at halftime before Ginebra caught up in the second half.
With under five minutes remaining in the fourth period, Trollano’s free throws pushed San Miguel ahead, 87-75, but back-to-back triples from RJ Abarrientos and Scottie Thompson, followed by another Abarrientos basket, pulled Ginebra within four, 87-83, with 3:05 left.
Trollano responded with a three-point play to restore an eight-point cushion, effectively sealing the win despite a late basket from Jayson David.
Trollano finished with 33 points on 11-of-21 shooting, including a perfect 8-of-8 from the free-throw line, along with six rebounds, three assists, and two steals.
