Juno Sauler replaces LA Tenorio as Gilas Pilipinas Youth head coach

Collegiate champion coach Juno Sauler has been named the new Gilas Pilipinas Youth head coach, replacing LA Tenorio, who assumed the role in November 2024.

The Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas (SBP) announced Sauler’s appointment on Saturday, adding that Tenorio will remain with the youth program in an advisory capacity.

“The SBP welcomes coach Juno into the Gilas Pilipinas Youth Men’s team and thanks coach LA Tenorio for his stint as head coach,” SBP president Ricky Vargas said in a release.

“Coach Juno brings a wealth of experience and deep connections nationwide that will help him put together the best team possible.”

Sauler is a proven winner at the collegiate level, having captured four UAAP titles—three with the De La Salle University women’s basketball team and one with the school’s men’s team in 2013.

He is currently part of the coaching staff of the University of Santo Tomas men’s basketball team in the UAAP and Magnolia in the PBA.

Sauler’s first assignment will be the 2026 SEABA Under-18 Championship, where the top two finishers will qualify for the FIBA Under-18 Asia Cup. The top four teams in that tournament will earn berths to the 2027 FIBA Basketball Under-19 World Cup.
