PVL: Jonah Sabete, Aby Maraño bring veteran presence to Nxled
Jonah Sabete and Aby Maraño are taking their acts to the Nxled Chameleons after their previous teams, Petro Gazz and Chery Tiggo, announced their absences from the upcoming PVL season.
The veteran players officially joined the Chameleons on Tuesday as the club added veteran firepower to its youthful squad led by Lyann De Guzman, EJ Laure, and Chiara Permentilla.
Sabete has been a key player in Petro Gazz’s success in recent years.
The powerful spiker contributed to the Angels’ last three championships, including two Reinforced Conference titles and one All-Filipino crown, helping Petro Gazz establish itself as one of the league’s most competitive teams.
However, Petro Gazz has put its PVL journey on hold, leaving Sabete and other players to find new teams ahead of the upcoming season.
Aside from her, other former Angels have already found home with Remy Palma and Chie Saet landing at Strong Group Athletics and Aiza Maizo-Pontillas going to Galeries.
Maraño, meanwhile, ended a short one-year run with Chery Tiggo after the Crossovers announced its departure from the league.
The seasoned middle blocker is the latest former Chery Tiggo player to sign with a new team after the troika of Imee Hernandez, Ara Galang, and Mylene Paat inked with SGA while Pauline Gaston and Jen Nierva were acquired by Capital1 and Creamline, respectively.
