Charles Tiu says he will 'run the show' for Benilde despite Phoenix coaching job

Charles Tiu made it clear he has no plans of leaving De La Salle-College of Saint Benilde after being named the new Phoenix head coach in the PBA.

But the longtime Blazers shot-caller has yet to clarify the exact capacity in which he will continue to serve the program.

“No I’m not [leaving],” Tiu told GMA News Online in a message.

“I have no idea [in what capacity]. We haven’t discussed that and have to see what is allowed and not.”

Tiu was recently named the new head coach of the Fuel Masters, taking over the job left by Willy Wilson who parted ways with the squad after just one conference.

But the PBA and the NCAA do not allow coaches to hold simultaneous head coaching jobs in the two leagues, putting Tiu’s current position with Benilde in question.

Still, he stressed he’s not abandoning the Blazers, whom he led to five straight Final Four appearances since NCAA Season 98.

“Benilde is my team. And I will run the show, no one else.”
