PBA: Titan Ultra trades Calvin Abueva to Converge in exchange for three players
A veteran is set to bolster a young Converge team after it acquired the rights to Calvin Abueva, who was traded by Titan Ultra in exchange for three players.
The deal was approved by the PBA Commissioner’s Office on Tuesday, sending the 37-year-old Abueva to the FiberXers after nearly a year with the Giant Risers.
In return, Titan will get the services of King Caralipio, Rey Suerte, and incoming rookie Mark Denver Omega.
Abueva was coming off a resurgent stint with Titan, averaging 23.60 points, 11.90 rebounds, 3.60 assists in the previous PBA Season 50 Philippine Cup.
Those numbers made him one of the candidates for the Best Player of the Conference award, which was eventually captured by reigning MVP June Mar Fajardo of recently-crowned champion San Miguel.
At Converge, Abueva will join the frontcourt tandem of Justine Baltazar and Justin Arana as well as rookie sensation Juan Gomez de Liaño.
Converge made a stellar run last conference, booking a quarterfinals berth armed with a twice-to-beat bonus but fell twice to Barangay Ginebra
