Quentin Millora-Brown heading to Manila to join Gilas Pilipinas, says SBP
Quentin Millora-Brown is heading to Manila from Japan to join Gilas Pilipinas as the national team prepares for the FIBA World Cup Asian Qualifiers, the Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas (SBP) announced on Thursday.
Millora-Brown is in Japan, where he plays for the Chiba Jets, while Gilas Pilipinas has already begun training for the upcoming FIBA window.
“After direct conversations with Quentin Millora-Brown and his family, the Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas announces that he is en route to Manila from Japan,” the SBP said in a statement.
“The SBP appreciates his continued commitment to the program. He’s ready to suit up for Gilas and is going to be an integral part of the current and future of the national team.”
Earlier reports said Millora-Brown was unlikely to join the team, with contract matters cited as a factor, while Kai Sotto was also expected to miss the window as he just worked his way back from an ACL injury.
During the first window of the Asian Qualifiers last year, Millora-Brown averaged 7.5 points and 9.5 rebounds per game.
Gilas Pilipinas will face New Zealand on February 26 and Australia on March 1, with both games scheduled to be played at home.
