PBA: Macau Black Bears, Converge banner Commissioner’s Cup opener

The Macau Black Bears and the Converge FiberXers will headline the opening day of the Philippine Basketball Association Commissioner’s Cup on March 11.

The league released its schedule Thursday, with Titan Ultra and Terrafirma set to tip off the conference at the Ninoy Aquino Stadium in Manila.

Macau, playing as a guest team, will face the FiberXers, who recently bolstered their roster with Calvin Abueva, Jonnel Policarpio, Kurt Reyson, and import Kylor Kelley.

Defending champion TNT Tropang Giga will open its title defense on March 20 against the Rain or Shine Elasto Painters. On the same day, Barangay Ginebra San Miguel begins its campaign against Macau, just days after the conclusion of the second window of the FIBA Basketball World Cup 2027 Asian Qualifiers.

The elimination round runs until May 10, capped by a rematch of last season’s finalists, Barangay Ginebra and TNT, at the Mall of Asia Arena. Also slated that day is the matchup between the Meralco Bolts and the Magnolia Hotshots.

Before this, the PBA will hold first its All-Star weekend on March 6 to 8 in Candon City, Ilocos Sur.
