UAAP: HS MVP Sean Franco commits to UP

NCAA Season 101 Juniors Basketball Most Valuable Player Sean Franco of Arellano University is heading to the University of the Philippines.

The UP Fighting Maroons announced the development on Thursday.

“Makakatulong agad sa’tin si Sean kasi nakita naman natin how he led ‘yung Arellano in his last year. Kahit natalo sila sa finals, he didn’t stop working,” said head coach Goldwin Monteverde.

In the juniors tournament, the 6-foot-2 wing averaged 16.5 points, 9.8 rebounds, and 2.7 assists per game. He also led the Braves to a finals appearance before falling to eventual champions Colegio de San Juan de Letran.

In a social media post on Wednesday, Franco bid farewell to Arellano.

“I am truly grateful to all the coaching staff. I’ve spent three years with you, and throughout that time, you have taught and guided me to make the right choices both on and off the court. Thank you for believing in me, for your patience, and for your unwavering support,” he said, while also thanking his family, Arellano officials, and supporters.

“Not goodbye, just see you around.”

Franco will be eligible to play starting UAAP Season 89 and will have full five years of eligibility.
