A mix of professional players and a collegiate standout will headline Gilas Pilipinas in the upcoming 2026 FIBA 3x3 Asia Cup next week in Singapore.
The Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas (SBP) announced that the troika of PBA stars Jerrick Ahanmisi (Terrafirma), Ralph Cu (Barangay Ginebra), and Chris Koon (Magnolia) will compose the 3x3 squad alongside Sean Alter of the University of the Philippines.
“We thank the leadership of the PBA and UAAP for allowing their players to represent the country in the FIBA 3x3 Asia Cup. 3x3 Program Director Ryan Gregorio and the team’s coaching staff selected a training pool, and they were all made available to join Gilas," SBP executive director Erika Dy said.
“We know it really takes a community to build a strong team, and we’re very happy to get the commitment of many individuals who showed up for our team’s practices to share their knowledge and experience."
Gilas 3x3 will first see action in the qualifying draw against Thailand and Maldives for a spot in the main stage.
One team from each of the four qualifying groups will secure a place in the group stage, joining top-seeded Mongolia and a strong lineup that includes China, Japan, New Zealand, Qatar, Singapore, Australia, and Chinese Taipei.
Following the pool stage, the top two teams from each group will advance to the quarterfinals. The tournament runs from April 1 to 5.
According to SBP, Joseph Eriobu, Javi Gomez de Liano, Dom Fajardo, and Robbie Herndon will join practices to help Gilas Pilipinas prepare for the tournament with Kirk Collier, Patrick Fran, and JJ Espanola guiding the squad.
