Jose Rizal University won its third consecutive NCAA 3x3 basketball title after once again ruling the tournament during NCAA Season 101 over the weekend at its home court in Mandaluyong.
The Heavy Bombers edged the University of Perpetual Help System DALTA, 15-14, in the finals on Sunday.
Trailing 13-14 with less than a minute remaining, transferee Lawrence Mangubat delivered the final blow, knocking down a clutch two-pointer with just two seconds left to seal the victory.
Mangubat was backed by teammates Chris Hubilla and Jamhir Eligado, while Justin Lozano was sidelined due to injury.
With the win, the Heavy Bombers extended their championship run, having now secured the title since NCAA Season 99.

JRU also reigned supreme in the juniors division, as the Light Bombers defeated Arellano University in the finals, 21-13.
The team is composed of Lorenz Cinco, Jairus Armendez, John Lord Cruz, and Aethan Ruedas.
Meanwhile, Lyceum of the Philippines University claimed the seniors’ bronze medal after narrowly beating San Beda University, 20-18. In the juniors division, the Red Cubs topped De La Salle-College of Saint Benilde La Salle Green Hills, 21-17.
